Livy Hitchcock, who has moved from Vermont to St. John, has been a frequent visitor to the Caribbean for many years. She established her name on St. John by showing her many Pastel, Oil and Watercolor paintings in local galleries. Livy has won many honors in her native Vermont, including "Best in Show" at the 1996 and 2001 annual shows at Mary Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville, Vermont. Known for her intimate portraits and dramatic landscapes, she has been recognized as one of te most popular painters in Vermont and the Caribbean. “Michelle” portrays the interplay of emotion and light that are Livy’s fortes in portrait work.

Her most current major project has been portraits donated to the families of students killed in the Columbine school shootings in 1999: “We are all saddened and horrified by the events that occurred at Columbine High School. As a portrait artist for 30 years, I know the value of a portrait to those whom are grieving. So, I offered as a gift to each family, a portrait of their loved one who had died.”
